This post is here to outline the responsibilities of all Ruffdogs members.
Board-wide Rules
1. Forum Rules
a. All posts should be placed in the relevant forum, so read forum descriptions before posting. Do not make duplicate posts unless otherwise approved by Admin/Mods. If the Admin/Mods feel your post is in the wrong place, we will move it - don't take offense if this happens, we don't mind!
b. Always be respectful of other forum members. Flaming or personal attacks will result in a warning or ban. We encourage healthy debate - but keep it friendly.
c. Please bring any posts breaking rules to a Ruffdogs Moderator or Admin if not corrected within 6 hours. This includes inappropriate posts.
d. Please remember this forum is aimed at a General Audience including young people. No pornography or inappropriate links will be tolerated, and posting of such will result in a ban.
e. Please respect the copyright of other members, non-members and companies. Do not cross post without permission or acknowleding original owner.
f. Respect the bandwidth of other members and users. Large images will be removed if not decreased on request.
g. Please do not use excessive amounts of smilies, coloured texts or large fonts. Do not SHOUT in capitals.
h. Use appropriate and descriptive titles when posting.
i. Do not SPAM. Posts promoting inappropriate websites or services will be deleted.
j. The Mods and myself have the right to remove or edit any post as we see fit.
k. The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revokation of private messaging.
n. Usernames may not be email addresses or URLs.
2. Signatures
a. Signatures may contain up to five lines (one line being that displayed on a browser opened to 800px width) of text (of small or normal size) and/or one image, valid combinations include; a single image of no more than 150px high, 500px wide and 100KB in size. Signatures containing an image this large may also include one line of small size text. Signatures containing an image of 30px high may include up to three lines of small size text or two lines of normal size text. Images of 15px height or less may allow up to three lines of normal size text or four lines of small size text.
b. Text sizes should be between 9 and 12 (small and normal). Text in signatures is subject to the same conditions as posts with respect of decency, copyright infringement, excessive emoticons, etc.
c. Some links are permitted in signatures, but NOT links to other discussion forums. Links are included within the text and image limits above. Links to offensive sites will be removed. If you are unsure whether your link is allowed in your signature, contact Admin or Mods before including it.
d. Users abusing these rules will be warned. Multiple warnings will result in a ban.
3. Avatars
a. Users are permitted to utilise a gallery avatar or to link to one of their own (subject to previous points on misuse of bandwidth). User defined avatars are to be no larger than 150 pixels square, may not exceed 6KB in filesize and have a consistently high availability (i.e. links to images on slow servers or those prone to failure may be removed).
b. Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, copyright etc.
c. Users abusing these rules will be warned and/or may lose their avatar privileges.
4. Policing
a. Ruffdogs operates a three strike policy. Users will be warned a maximum of three times for any and all offences in a three month period. If the need arises for a fourth warning a temporary ban will be put in place of between 1 to 7 days. There is an exception to this rule. If the violation is deemed to be severe or blatant it will lead to an immediate ban without warning.
b. Arguing with Amin/Mods after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be put in place as above.
c. Users who feel they have been unfairly warned are welcome to contact me, Emma. If I feel you were treated badly I may remove a warning.
d. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email account of evade an email ban. Circumvention includes posting as an anonymous user.
e. An exception to the three strike rule applies when users contact team members personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material. Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban.
f. Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While Ruffdogs may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurence.
